Spreading of Communicable Disease Through Air

Through air: Some diseases that are caused by bacteria or virus can be spread through air. Such diseases are called airborne diseases. When an infected person sneezes or coughs, tiny droplets of liquid containing bacteria or viruses come out from the mouth and nose. When a healthy person breathes in the droplet-containing air, these organisms enter his/her body. In this way the disease spreads. This method of transmission of a disease by droplets is called droplet infection. Common cold, influenza, measles and tuberculosis are some diseases that spread in this way. The chances of droplet infection increase when a healthy person is near an infected person. So, such diseases spread very quickly in crowded areas.
